Game 38 Utah Jazz at Charlotte Bobcats

Jazz win
99-93
Season Record: 19-19

I didn't watch any of this game. Checked on the score here and there during the game. I just wanted to talk some Jazz for a minute or three. The Jazz had a real bad February so i'm hoping that March is more like January. So far so good with a 3-1 record. They only won 4 games all of February. This was only a win against the Bobcats, but any win on the road is a win much needed. You gotta win most of these kind of games to make the playoffs and to be a good closing team.

I hope the Jazz make a push this month to make the playoffs. I know that it would be a miracle for them to go deep into the playoffs but it'd at least be fun to have the playoffs here again. Even if it means a first round exit or if we're lucky a second round exit. Maybe even more lucky than that with a West finals appearance or Finals appearance. I can dream, but thats all it is. Right now the Jazz are very much in it, only 1 game behind the 8th spot.

Speaking of the NBA, there were a bunch of sweet finishes tonight. I saw a couple buzzer beater shots and close games. That was perty fun. Allston and i watched some games together on my phone and really liked betting on the close games. That little squirt always seemed to be right... he called that Nets win with the 3 at the buzzer. I thought the Clippers had the win.

Well good night. I don't even really know why i did this post. I thought i had something good to say but i really didn't.

Game 35 Utah Jazz vs Miami Heat

vs
99 - 98
Season Record: 17-18
So i watched most of the game. One of the best i've watched of the year. The Jazz got up pretty big, but i knew the Heat would make a run and the Jazz would have to hold them off. It looked like the Heat would win in the end but the Jazz pulled it off. It was sweet. I waited for this post because i was going to look for some pictures to post with this recap... however, yahoo had only 7 pictures from this game and guess how many were pictures of anything other than Lebron and Dwayne? Zero. I don't even mean Lebron and Dwayne were in every picture, i mean they were the only ones in every single picture. So no pictures. I don't really need to put one of them on here.

The Jazz broke the Heat's 9 game win streak. I know the Jazz have not been playing so great lately, and if they make the playoffs, their chances after that will not be great. It is good to get a win like this during the year. Its one of those games each year that you're glad not to miss. I'm sure it'll be one my top games of the year.

I guess i'll maybe put a game recap video on here at least.

After quite a while of looking i did find this one picture of Jefferson. Celebrate this win.

Just a quick thing i'd like to say. What a nice block by Hayward in the 3rd. I heard one of the recap announcers say, while laughing, "first maybe last block of his career." Uh, SERIOUSLY??
Do they know anything? AT ALL?? Hayward is no blocking animal, i mean he's not a center or anything, but he is only in his second season in the NBA and already has 43 blocks in his career. Lets put this in some perspective. Shall we. Would those announcers have even thought to say something like that about a Lebron block? Would they have said, probably the first and last block of his career? They would have looked like total idiots. (I think they did anyway).
So far this season:
Gordon Hayward - 24 blocks
Lebron James - 28 blocks
Lebron who is known as a great blocker for his size and position has only 4 more blocks this season than a second year man who obviously is not getting any credit for what he does. I've seen him make a whole slew of blocks just like that one.

I just hate stupid announcers. Its their job to be announcers and to know what the heck they are talking about. Its their JOB. Do some research on someone besides the 10 most popular players in the league. Know something about other players. They just sound so dumb. It'd be like a weather man saying, "yup, first and last snow storm we'll ever see in Utah," after a snow storm.

How do these guys keep their jobs?

All-Star Weekend 2012

The West won the game by 3. I only watched bits and pieces of it. 152-149.

Well i watched most of the All Star activities on Saturday night. It was actually a little boring. I thought it was cool that Jeremy Evans won the dunk contest, but the dunk contest was not exciting at all. I'm not saying that Evans didn't do ok, but if someone only showed me his dunks i would have never thought he would have won. Not saying anything bad about Evans, just shows how bad the other dunkees were.

I haven't seen any good dunks in the dunk contest for a long time. I think Vince Carter was the best in recent times. He did things nobody has done before or since. He was quite impressive. Blake Griffin was fun to wait for last year, just because he's such a good in game dunker, but the dunk contest was a little disappointing compared to his game dunks. The dunk contest is just kind of dumb now. Its really stupid that the stars of the game are no longer involved in the dunk contest. I thought it was part of the All-Star weekend. None of the dunk competitors were anything close to all-stars.
I don't mean to make it sound like i'm not happy that Jeremy Evans won. I thought he deserved it among those who competed this year, but even he was a little disappointing. Thats all i have to say on the issue. Maybe.

There were other things Saturday night. Tony Parker won the Skills challenge and Kevin Love won the three-point contest. The All-Star stuff is still fun to watch, mostly.. but its just lost a lot of what it used to have. Back in the day of cooler things and such.

Game 20 Utah Jazz vs LA Clippers

vs
105 - 107

Well we went to another really fun Jazz game. The only bad thing again was that they lost. I do enjoy watching the games. I like this Jazz team. Even though they are not perfect and they're not going to win every game, they play hard and you pretty much know they will be in the game at the end. The Jazz just about pulled this one off to have a shot to tie at the end. The Clippers played it smart and safe tho and fouled the Jazz instead of letting them put up a 3 attempt to tie the game.

There was a couple of Clippers fans around and at first i was a little bugged, but after a while i sorta got to thinking that if they've been Clipper fans for very long they have not had much to cheer about. Good for them, the Clippers are really doing something so far this year. They deserve to win once in a while too. I still wished the Jazz could have finished this one out better and beat the Clippers, but good for the Clippers finally getting a win in Utah after so long.

Conference Championships - Matchups

NFC Championship
vs
17 - 20
OT

I got both games right this week. I'm good. I felt bad for that Williams guy on the 49ers in this game. Poor guy lost the game for the 49ers. What a big game to lose.
Prediction: Giants win 28-24

AFC Championship
vs
23 - 20
The Patriots won, and i don't really care too much.
Prediction: Patriots win 37-24

Divisional Round: NFC Matchups

vs
20 - 37
Kind of a shocker this one ended up. Packers got beat pretty bad by the Giants. I didn't see the Giants doing this at all... last week or this week. I guess they are better than i thought. Maybe i won't overlook them again. This week at least i went 3-1 in my picks. Much better than last week.
15-1 ............................... 10-7
Prediction: Packers win 31-24

vs
36 - 32
This was a good game. I watched it on the television set and enjoyed it. Good game. Bunch o scoring in the final minutes. My prediction was pretty close, just needed to add more points to each.
13-3 .............................. 14-3
Prediction: 49ers win 27-21

Divisional Round: AFC Matchups

vs
45 - 10
It just wasn't even close. I picked the Patriots to win, and i picked a close game because i was hoping Denver could stay in it, but they didn't.
13-3 ...................... 9-8
Prediction: Patriots win 20-17
It would be awesome to see Denver win again... but i don't think i'd bet on that happening. Seems like teams have a better chance of winning if i don't pick them anyway.

vs
20 - 13
I was pretty close on this one. I don't know about anything else.
12-4 ...................... 11-6
Prediction: Ravens win 24-10

Game 10 Utah Jazz vs LA Lakers

vs
87 - 90
OT
Season Record: 6-4

Well, this was a really really fun game except for the one thing that wasn't all that great... the Jazz lost. Man it was a fun game tho. The Lakers in town, an overtime game, close the whole way through. I don't think either team lead by more than 5 or 6 points the entire game. In the end, the Jazz just missed the shots. They made enough to send it to overtime and then to have a shot at it at the end of overtime, but just a shot or two more to go and they would have come out victorious. I'm just glad they pushed it to overtime, they were down by 5 pts with just under a minute left i believe. Kobe did his thing again and made a bunch o shots. He did miss a couple that could have ended the game sooner in a win for the Lakers.

Don't know how many games we'll get to this year, but this was a good one. Its always fun to see meaningful games when its at least close. i hate to see the Jazz get blown out, thats never really fun.

This was the Jazz first home loss of the season, and it snapped their 5 game win streak. They were on a roll, maybe they can just get it going again. Forget about the Lakers. Who needs dem guys?

I thought maybe i'd start putting where our seats were at the sporting events we go to, just in case. Maybe some day i'll wish i knew. Probably not but maybe. So if i remember, i'll just put it on these posts.

Wildcard Round: AFC Matchups

vs
29 - 23
OT

Boy o boy. I's wrong on another one. That puts me at 1-3 for the wildcard round. This was the best game of the weekend though. I can't believe the Broncos won. The Steelers winning this game was my most confident prediction of all the games. I know i've not liked the Tebows before in the season, but i found myself rooting for them now in the playoffs. I think i was just mad at them for the way they beat the Bears. That sucked. Its pretty cool tho how the year has gone for them and Tebow. Man, just about everyone is nuts about Tebow. They either hate him or love him. I don't think he's an incredibly great QB, but he can play and make big plays when needed. I think he's pretty decent for a rookie. Plus by what i see, he seems like a pretty good guy. It sure would be cool for the Tebows to beat the Patriots next week. I think there'd be madness in the streets.
So without going on forever, (maybe i will more later) this was one of the best football games i've seen in quite a while.
8-8 ............................ 12-4
Prediction: Steelers win 24-7

vs
31 - 10
Didn't get this one right at all. Oh well, i didn't really have too good of an idea on either of these teams, and didn't think either team had a great chance going forward after this game. Could be wrong tho, i am often.
10-6 ............................ 9-7
Prediction: Bengals win 31-21
