Ogden Raptors at Orem Owlz: Game 2

South Division Playoffs
 4 - 7
Raptors lose series 0-2

The Owlz scored 5 more runs in the second inning and again the Raptors couldn't come back from it.  Made a decent game again but in the end they lost the series to the Owlz, and the season is now over.

Ogden Raptors vs Orem Owlz: Game 1

South Division Playoffs
3 - 8
Series 0-1

We were so excited for some playoff baseball.  This one went bad tho from the beginning.  The Owlz scored 5 in the second inning and the Raptors were not able to recover from it.  They made it a game (sort of) we hoped through the end that they would somehow pull it out, but that was not going to happen tonight.
Allston and I sure have been to a bunch of poopy playoff games.  I know we have been to many more playoff losses than wins, i think we have only been to one playoff win by the raptors, but i'm too lazy to go check.

Ogden Raptors vs Idaho Falls Chukars

Win 12-5
They started off pretty slow but really got going in the sixth inning. Scoring 11 runs in three innings to end off the game. It was the last home game of the season for the Raptors.  Two games left in Idaho Falls then playoffs start on Friday with a home game against the Owlz.  This has been a great end of the season for the Raptors and a perfect way to end going into the playoffs.  I'm excited for them this year.  I'm hoping for a Championship this year.

He was pretty excited about one of the home runs.

Ogden Raptors vs Idaho Falls Chukars

Loss 5-6
6 game win streak snapped tonight.. but the Raptors did clinch a playoff spot with their win yesterday.  The Raptors almost made a crazy end to this one.  Down by 3 runs going into the bottom of the ninth.  They rallied to get 2 runs back and had a man on first base with the winning run at bat.
 Eating popcorn under the blanket.

The last shot at the win for the Raptors. Just missed it.

Ogden Raptors vs Grand Junction Rockies

Win 9-7
Some guy gave us tickets right behind home plate.  They were pretty fun seats.  We don't usually sit there because the seats are taken.
The game was a blowout compared to what the Raptors have been used to lately.  They won by two runs instead of one.  Magic number for the Raptors to make the playoffs is now 2.  There are just 5 games left in the season.  So close to clinching the playoffs that start the end of next week.
We sat next to these dudes clocking pitch speeds and other junk like that.  I don't know if they work for the Raptors or whoever.

Ogden Raptors vs Grand Junction

Win 10-9 in 11 innings

After some really costly errors by the Raptors the score was 1-9 when the seventh inning stretch came.  The ballpark had been as packed as i've seen it in a long time.  I took my dude Jake to use the facilities and came back to a half empty ballpark.  Passing person after person leaving saying the game was over.

You don't leave the game early!!! And this is why...
The game was just about done.  Bottom of the eighth and the first two Raptors struck out.  As the next batter went to the plate some dude from the back started yelling "yes we can."  At first it was kinda one of those times when you're just wondering when the weird guy is going to shut up, but the batter singled up the middle.  This gave life to the yelling guy and a few others around the area, my son included. To him, yelling something over and over is the best thing ever.  John Cannon up next hit a home run, scoring two.  The Raptors were still down by 5 runs with two outs, but the crowd was into it now.  We were loud.  The same bunch of people continued their chanting but the crazy thing was, the Raptors kept going.  After a single, a triple, a single, a single, and a walk..... the bases were loaded and we were only down by 3 runs.  Just 3 runs.  I can't speak for everyone, but for me, the annoying yelling guy had become a part of this whole crazy comeback inning.  I don't think we wanted the annoying guy and his followers to stop.  The Raptors were only down by 3 now.  Justin Chigbogu, who started off the inning with a strike-out, was up to bat again.  He rocked a line drive through the gap in left center to the wall.  His triple emptied the bases. Tie game.  The inning ended tied.

No scores in the 9th and 10th, no score in the top of the 11th.  A double for the Raptors put the winning run on second. John Cannon hit the walk off single to complete the game.  This game that was "over" in the 7th inning...  It was the coolest game i've ever seen.  If you know me, you know that i don't leave a game before its over.  I don't care the score, i just don't leave.  You don't get many opportunities in life to see something like i saw tonight.

Check out the game recap here
from the Ogden Raptors website

More crazy for you:
The Raptors are in a battle for the 2nd half win and a spot in the playoffs.  The last 7 games have been against the Rockies. The Raptors won 6 of those and have overtaken the Rockies for the lead in the South by 2.5 games.
A couple weeks ago the Raptors had a 9-10 record.  They are now 19-12 after winning 10 of their last 12 games.  9 of those games have been by one run.
They are in the middle of an 8 game stretch against the Rockies. One game left Saturday against the Rockies.  Including this win tonight this is 3 straight walk-off wins at home against the Rockies.  That is crazy!  Nuts!  Thats some incredible crap.

Week 7: Bears at Redskins

vs

41 - 45
The Bears lost.... but i think i want to start out with some positive... won't take too long.  Hester finally broke loose to return a punt for a touchdown.  It was good to see him do it again.  He's the best in the game all-time, but has just not had that burst lately.  He did have two returns in one game that were just one miss away from going the distance, but overall has not looked the same as he has in the past.  Maybe he's just getting older and doesn't have what he used to, but its good to see him do it again.
Ok... now for a bad... Cutler is out again.  For a month at least.  He got his groin hurt, it was not really good to see.  In the past, the Bears have not played well when Cutler got hurt, so this was really bad to see.  That said, Josh McCown did a pretty good job after Cutler was hurt.  McCown kept the Offense going and was pretty good.  So i'm not panicked... but i think we'll have to see some more from the guy.  It was just one game... against the Redskins.
About the game... The Bears failed to disappoint on an exciting game that went down to the end.  This time they were just on the losing end.  It was an exciting game to watch.  Even though the Bears are not perfect, they have been much more exciting to watch this year than they have other years.

Season Record:  4-3

Week 6: Bears vs Giants

vs

27 - 21
Well, they don't always make it look great.... but they are getting wins.  The Offense did just enough this week and the Defense did what was needed in the end.  The Bears are still getting takeaways, and got the game winning interception late in the game to finish off the Giants.  The Giants were driving down the field to get what would have been a game winning TD, but the Bears got a most needed takeaway.
Most of the Bears games this year have gone right down to the end.... they've made them fun to watch.

 Bears Season Record: 4-2

Week 5: Bears vs Saints

vs

18 - 26
2nd loss in a row for the Bears.  The Saints are a good team, and they outmatched the Bears most of the game.  Just like last game against the Lions, the Bears were able to put some things together late in the game and mount a run.... but just too late.  Time ran out in both this game and the last game.
I still see a lot to the Bears to be excited about from the Bears team this year.  It just seems like a few  things just need to click and the Bears will be just about unstoppable.  Maybe not Broncos unstoppable, but just under that...

Bears Season Record: 3-2

Week 4: Bears at Lions

vs
32 - 40
This was not as close as the score ended up.  It was a bad game for the Bears in almost all aspects. They were down big in the first half and unlike other games this season, they couldn't climb out of the hole.  They pulled the score to within 8 points, but it was just too late in the game.  Hopefully put this game behind them and welcome the Saints to Soldier Field next Sunday.  Welcome them, and give them a beating.

 Bears Record: 3-1
