The Bears lost.... but i think i want to start out with some positive... won't take too long. Hester finally broke loose to return a punt for a touchdown. It was good to see him do it again. He's the best in the game all-time, but has just not had that burst lately. He did have two returns in one game that were just one miss away from going the distance, but overall has not looked the same as he has in the past. Maybe he's just getting older and doesn't have what he used to, but its good to see him do it again.
Ok... now for a bad... Cutler is out again. For a month at least. He got his groin hurt, it was not really good to see. In the past, the Bears have not played well when Cutler got hurt, so this was really bad to see. That said, Josh McCown did a pretty good job after Cutler was hurt. McCown kept the Offense going and was pretty good. So i'm not panicked... but i think we'll have to see some more from the guy. It was just one game... against the Redskins.
About the game... The Bears failed to disappoint on an exciting game that went down to the end. This time they were just on the losing end. It was an exciting game to watch. Even though the Bears are not perfect, they have been much more exciting to watch this year than they have other years.
Well, they don't always make it look great.... but they are getting wins. The Offense did just enough this week and the Defense did what was needed in the end. The Bears are still getting takeaways, and got the game winning interception late in the game to finish off the Giants. The Giants were driving down the field to get what would have been a game winning TD, but the Bears got a most needed takeaway.
Most of the Bears games this year have gone right down to the end.... they've made them fun to watch.
2nd loss in a row for the Bears. The Saints are a good team, and they outmatched the Bears most of the game. Just like last game against the Lions, the Bears were able to put some things together late in the game and mount a run.... but just too late. Time ran out in both this game and the last game.
I still see a lot to the Bears to be excited about from the Bears team this year. It just seems like a few things just need to click and the Bears will be just about unstoppable. Maybe not Broncos unstoppable, but just under that...
This was not as close as the score ended up. It was a bad game for the Bears in almost all aspects. They were down big in the first half and unlike other games this season, they couldn't climb out of the hole. They pulled the score to within 8 points, but it was just too late in the game. Hopefully put this game behind them and welcome the Saints to Soldier Field next Sunday. Welcome them, and give them a beating.
This was not close like the first two games... and the Bears jumped out to an early lead. Up 24-3 at one point, they did let the Steelers get back in it at 27-23. Midway through the 4th they put it away with a TD drive and then a fumble recovery TD.
I had to love Jay's 3rd down run on 3rd and 12 in the 4th quarter. He picked up the first down and did not do a quarterback slide, but lowered his shoulder on the defender. Don't want him getting hurt, but i like to see him playing to win like that.
The Bears had to come back in this one also. Won in the last seconds on a game winning drive. Touchdown pass to Martellus Bennett. At least the Bears have found a way to win these first 2 games, even with all the mistakes they've made. I like this year's team so far. I think they could be pretty durn good. I do miss Lovie tho. He was the man.
I have not been writing a lot about the Raptors but have followed them more this year than others. They've been in a tough 2nd half of the season and might not make the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. They have been to the Championship series and lost the last 3 years in a row.
So with 7 games left of the season the Raptors are a 14-17 record in the 2nd Half. 4 Games behind the Chukars who are 18-13. They do play twice against the Chukars... which could really help them catch up. Its not looking good, but after winning 4 of their last 5, and with their last 4 games at home, maybe they can pull something off.
It rained and thundered and lightninged before the game. We figured we'd go anyway and see if they played. They did take the tarp off the field and started the game about half hour late.
There was a bit of weird wind during the game that made it fun. The Owlz dropped a couple balls in the outfield because the wind would catch it at just the right time. That was cool. But, the Raptors held the Owlz off in this one, it went right down to the end. Raptors are just out of first place in the South division behind Grand Junction. How bout they go on a big run and take over the lead.
Man, it was a good game, but so close in the end. Didn't end well. Raptors were down 1 run in the bottom of the 9th with a man on 2nd base and one out. They tried to send the man home off an infield grounder and he got caught between 3rd base and home. They gave away a real good chance.
It was great for our first game of the season anyway.
The Raptors are 0-3 this season so far against the Rockies. Good that they are 4-0 against the Chukars.
