Sports and Blogs and Me

Sorry to all my loyal readers, i have been missing here on this blog lately.  NBA has pretty much not existed on here this year, but i plan to get back to it, sometime soon possibly.

Super Bowl 2012

San Francisco 49ers vs Baltimore Ravens
31 - 34
The Ravens winned.  I thought they would.  It was cool for them, i don't have anything else to say but it was a pretty good game to watch.  Pretty good.

My prediction: Ravens win 28-27

Championship Round

Falcons vs 49ers
24 - 28
Weeell Falcons gave up a big lead again, but this time they couldn't kick a field goal at the end to win it.  49ers go to the Super Bowl.
My pick: 49ers win 38-24

Patriots vs Ravens
13 - 28
Them Ravens shore do have the Patriots figgerd out.  I didn't see the Ravens making the Super Bowl, but they did.  Wow.  Who'd a thunk.
My pick: Patriots win 34-31

NFC Divisional Round

Falcons vs Seahawks
 30 - 28
Oh man i was almost right on! The Seahawks had a big ol comeback and took the lead 28-27 with 30ish seconds left in the game. I thought i had predicted it right, but the Falcons made a couple quick plays and were able to kick a field goal. Sweet.

 13-3 ..................... 12-5
My Prediction: Seahawks win 28-27
Close game, Seahawks just beat out in the end.  I don't know.  Falcons have been good.  Maybe they will do something different this year, but in past, they've struggled in the playoffs even after good years.

49ers vs Packers
 45 - 31
Good, Packers lose. I was wrong. Good. Wrong on both NFC Matchups, Good.

11-4-1 ............. 12-5
My Prediction:  Packers win 31-28
Another close game for the NFC?  Yeah, lets put the Packers down for the win i guess.  I am hoping for a Packers and Seahawks rematch from their weird early season game.  This one would mean a bit more though.  So i don't know if i'll be right on these picks.  I guess i have a 50/50 chance.

AFC Divisional Round

Broncos vs Ravens
 35 - 38
2OT
Wrong again. I went 1-3 on my picks in this Divisional round. Thats just how it goes. This was a pretty good game. Enjoyed watching it.

13-3 .................... 11-6
My Prediction: Broncos win 31-17
The Broncos are playing real good with Manning this year.  They have a win streak and such.  Ravens have been pretty good this year but to me, nothing real special.

Patriots vs Texans
 41 - 28
My one correct pick. Yeah, i knowed it.

12-4 ................. 13-4
My Prediction:  Patriots win 38-14
The Patriots are good.  The Texans have struggled to end the season.  I see the Patriots more or less blowing this game out.  Thats all i have to say.

NFC Wildcard Round

(3)Packers vs (6)Vikings
11-5 .................... 10-6
 24 - 10
Went a lot like i thought it would.  I did think the Vikings would make more of a game of it but their replacement QB Webb didn't really seem to play so well.  Darn, hoped the Vikings would win.  Stupid Packers.
Head to head this year:
Dec 2, Packers win 23-14
Dec 30, Vikings win 37-34
My Prediction: Packers win 31-21
I think the Packers should play much better than they did last week against the Vikings.  I don't think it'll be nearly as close as it was.  I'm hoping for the Vikings to knock out the Packers tho, it would serve them right for letting the Vikings in.

(4)Redskins vs (5)Seahawks
10-6 .............................. 11-5
 14 - 24
I got this one pretty close too.  It didn't really go how i thought, but.. Redskins jumped up early but couldn't do anything later after Griffin 3 got hurt.  It didn't really end up as close as the score seems.
No head to head this year.  Last 3 years Redskins 2-1 over Seahawks.
My Prediction: Seahawks win 28-17
The Seahawks seem to be just playing too good lately to be stopped and i don't think the Redskins will be able to keep up with them.  I could be wrong on this one... Those Redskins, what like 7 in a row won now?

AFC Wildcard Round

(3)Texans vs (6)Bengals
12-4 ............................ 10-6
19 - 13
Closer game in the end, but got it right as well.  Poor Bengals.
No head to head this year. Last 3 years Texans 3-0 vs Bengals.
My Prediction: Texans Win 28-17
I think for this week the Texans will figure it out and go back to their winning ways.  They haven't been great lately, but have the Bengals been great all year?  Not really.

(4)Ravens vs (5)Colts
10-6 ......................... 11-5
24 - 9
The one game i missed.  Didn't see it going quite like that.  It would have been much closer or possibly a Colts win like i thought if they would have been able to score touchdowns in the red-zone instead of all field goals.  They were stopped close by the Ravens.. that was the difference in the game.
No head to head this year.  Last 3 years Colts 2-1 over Ravens.
My Prediction: Colts win 21-20
I don't know, just my hunch.  Ravens have been bad a lot this year.  Colts have been inconsistent too, and have a rookie quarterback, but i think they've got the motivation to do it.

Week 17 Bears at Lions

vs
26 - 24
Season Record 10-6
Bears won.  Took care of business.  Got screwed again by the Packers.  Packers lost to the Vikings so the Vikings go to the playoffs, and Bears miss out.  Funny, the Packers have to face the Vikings in the Wildcard round this weekend.  I hope the Packers lose to them again, serves them right.  So its the end of the season now for Bears.
The Bears fired coach Lovie Smith day after the game. I'm not a huge fan of the decision. I do hope things get better under a new coach and not worse... could go either way. I think teams get way to hasty firing head coaches in the NFL. The longest tenured coach in the NFL is Patriots Belichick, who has been coach since 2000. Next longest after that was some coach i cant remember now who started in 2003. Seriously, there is one coach in the NFL who has been there longer than 10 years?? That is just silly to me. Silly.

Week 16 Bears at Cardinals

vs
28 - 13
Season Record 9-6
Good enough.  The Bears stay alive for now.  The Bears must win and the Vikings must lose, and the Bears are in the playoffs.  Some Bears fans seem to not want the Bears to make the playoffs, but thats not my way of doing things.  I always want my teams in the playoffs, even if their chances of winning are slim.  Especially in football.  All you have to do is sneak your way in and then just win 4 games.  Anyone can get hot for 4 games.
Its all the rave lately that this guy will probably lose his head coach job.  Thats one reason i've read people hope the Bears don't make the playoffs.  They figure if the Bears make the playoffs Lovie's job will be safe but if they fail to make the playoffs Lovie will be gone.  I'm pretty sure i've already said what i think.  Keep Lovie.  He's the guy.
The Bears defense won this one for sure. The offense still has to figure out what to do.  Bears vs Lions next week. Should be a win, but you never know. Playoffs start now for the Bears.

Week 15 Bears vs Packers

vs
13 - 21
The Bears got wiped again by the Packers.  Another let down by the Chicago Bears.  There sure have been a lot of those in the past 5 or 6 years.  The 2010 Playoff run being the exception.  There's a lot i could say about this game but really they just played bad.  Thats the easy way to say it.  More bad by the offense than the defense, but bad.
There were calls by the officials that i hated, (3 offensive pass interference calls on Alshon Jeffery) (Then after all that a no call when Shields of the Packers pulled on Jeffery's jersey on the play that ended the game.)  the Bears lost the game without those calls though.  It probably would not have made a difference if the calls were right.  Still makes me want to poo my pants anyway.

So, here's the deal.  The Bears can still make the playoffs with 2 wins to end the season and some help.  They would probably just squeeze into the 6th seed and would play the 3rd seed who right now would be at the Packers.  It could also possibly be the 49ers.  I want that Bears/Packers playoff game.  I don't know why, it will probably just end up in another case of me being mad and wanting to poo my pants, but on the other hand it'd be a chance for the Bears to have sweet sweet revenge.  To me i'd feel the season a success if they went into the playoffs and knocked the Packers out, even if they made it no farther than that.  Sure i'd still want the Bears to make the Super Bowl and win, but even a win over the Packers in the playoffs would make me so giddy that i would be ok with any disappointment after that.

Please win your last two games Chicago Bears.

There's been some crip crap this week about Brian Urlacher... he said in an interview when asked about if coach Lovie should be coach next year:
''Two of the people I don't care about: fans or media,'' Urlacher said. ''They can say what they want to about our head coach, about our players. It bothers me. They don't know what they're talking about. Lovie is the head coach of this football team and hopefully will be for a long time.''
Urlacher also sarcastically commented on the boos the Bears have been hearing from their fans.
''Our crowd was pretty good for the most part,'' Urlacher said.''They were loud for a minute there, the boos were really loud, which is always nice. The only team in our division that gets booed at home is us. It's incredible to me.''

I guess tons of Bears fans are mad at Urlacher.  I'm not.  I love what he said.  Fans can be pretty stupid if you ask me.  Also i think fans boo way too much.  Not that they can't ever boo, i suppose they do have the "right" to boo as they put it, but aren't you at the game to support your team?  Its much more effective support to not boo your team, just sayin.  I don't know why so many fans have a sort of obsession with booing their own team if they don't love everything.  You don't have to tell them every time they do something not perfect, you're there to support them.  Its not like they don't realize when they are not playing well, plus you can still communicate a dislike of their play just by not cheering.  A quiet crowd is obviously not happy with how the game is going.  Cheering fans are happy.  Players are not stupid, they do get it.
I like that Urlacher supports his coach and he shouldn't care what media and fans are saying about it.  Media and fans always seem to want change if a team doesn't win all the time.  Thats just dumb to me.  Only 1 team out of 32 teams wins the super bowl.  Lets just get new coaches in the remaining 31 teams right?  Stupid.

Week 14 Bears at Vikings

vs
14 - 21
Season Record 8-5
Another loss.  The Bears have been 1-4 in the last 5 weeks after they started the season 7-1.  They were on a roll, but now are in a bad slump.  They are running out of time.
The Bears hold their playoff hopes in their own hands and it starts next week against the Packers,  then to Arizona and Detroit.  I think this next week is the biggest game of the season.  Not only is it against the Packers who got the best of the Bears early in this season, but have gotten the best of the Bears for a couple years.

I hope they at least win next week, that would make the season for me.
