Game 7: Utah Jazz at Miami Heat

vs
116 - 114
OT
Season Record: 4-3
This will most likely be one of the top 3 Jazz wins of the season.

Game Recap:
1st quarter: Jazz start out slow again. Can't really make anything. First quarter ends down 13-25.
2nd quarter: Jazz start the quarter better and hang in but lose ground after that. They go down 22 pts, and are losing 32-51 at halftime.
3rd quarter: Jazz come out this half looking better. They gain some ground. 62-75 end of third.
4th quarter: Jazz come all the way back in this one and tie then take the lead 81-79 with just over six minutes left. The Jazz were doing everything right. The Heat took the game back over tho and kept pushing their lead until it was 90-98 Heat up. This was an 8 pt Heat lead with just 37 seconds left. From here on out i couldn't believe what i was seeing. I don't think i've really ever seen a better comeback with such little time left. It was a combination of Williams 3 pointer and Millsap hitting three 3-pointers and the Jazz had the ball down 102-104 with 3 seconds left. Ball came in to Miles who jacked up a three that Millsap rebounded and put back at the buzzer to tie the game and go to overtime.
Overtime: Jazz got down a few but came back and went ahead with two made free throws by Elson with just 0.4 seconds left to give them the 116-114 win.

I seriously like this guy. I'm glad we didn't let him go to Portland.

Sorry James, you got a triple double, but not whats most important... a win. So far in your career thats what you've got; lots of stats but not the important wins. This could change for James, but i sure hope not.

Elson made the two clutch free-throws at the end of overtime to give the Jazz the win. Funny, he tried to miss the second one to not give the Heat a chance at a shot, but he couldn't even miss, he banked the free-throw in.

Other bits of thoughts:
1. This was a great game, but the Jazz beating the "great" Miami Heat made it just that much better. They gave the Heat their first home loss of the season and now the Heat have a 5-3 record. Just one win better than the 4-3 Jazz. I love to see the Heat lose, but to see the Jazz hand the flashy Heat a loss like this in Miami. Awesome.
2. After scoring just 32 pts in the first half, the Jazz were able to get 42 pts in the 4th quarter alone. They stepped it up when they had to. I'm still worried with the slow starts, but thats just something the Jazz have kinda had problems with for quite a while. Lets just come out and start games with more intensity eh.
3. Millsap has been great so far this season. He has been everything i think we could have hoped for. Deron has seemed to be off at times so far this season, but has also shown some great play. The second half of this game a good example of that. He led the Jazz back into the game.
4. I'm just curious, but how many times has a player scored 11 or more points in the last 30 seconds of a game? I just can't get over that 8 point comeback by the Jazz. I was staring at the game in disbelief. I just could not believe what i was seeing.
5. Previous to this game, the most the Heat had allowed their opponents in a game was 97. Jazz scored 116. Who would have thought at halftime that the Jazz would even get close to 100 with a halftime score of 32?

Here is the game recap:

Millsap highlights:

Millsap interview:

Jazz Player of the Game: Paul Millsap
This was an easy one.
46 pts, 9 reb. 19-28 FG, and 3-3 from 3-pointers.
Paul was insane tonight. In his career he was 2-20 from 3-pointers. Tonight he made all 3 with less than 30 seconds left in regulation. It would have been crazy enough for him to hit one 3-pointer at the end of a game to help the Jazz win; but THREE, was just incredible. Hats off to you Paul Millsap.

Seriously one of the best performances I've ever seen out of a Jazz player. We've seen Millsap catch fire before, but hitting 11 points in 20 seconds that was awesome.

I hope the Jazz play up tempo like that more on the road. That's how they got back in the game in the second half. They often do that at home, but pushing the ball brought a lot success.

Un-believable. I'm still going crazy with how this one ended.
