Jazz win 103-98 vs Knicks

vs
98 - 103
Season Series: Jazz 2-0
Jazz Record: 49-26
Home Record: 30-8

Went to the game wif Allston last night.

Now that I am cool too and have a jersey, we both wore our Jazz jerseys.
  • What a great 1st quarter for the Jazz offensively. 44 points in the 1st quarter. It seemed like everything was going down for them, especially 3's. They let the Knicks get 30 in the quarter too, but like one of the players said in postgame, if you score 44 it's not really a big deal if the opponent scores 30.
  • After the 1st quarter, the Knicks stayed in the game and the Jazz couldn't really get it out of reach. The game was tied at 87 going into the 4th when the Jazz held the Knicks to only 11 points in the 4th.
  • I've read some other things wrote about this game and how the Jazz barely won and they should have blown out the Knicks and it was a disappointment that the Jazz didn't just kill the Knicks. Ok so lets be serious, a win is a win. When the standings are so close in the West, its just important to get the win and move up in the standings. By this time in the season, even bad teams have been able to figure out some things and really don't have much to play for anymore and it can be difficult to beat teams this late in the season. Even sub .500 teams can be difficult this late in the season. Just look around the league, i mean Lakers lost to the Hornets last night. Nuggets lost to the Knicks a couple games ago. Mavericks have lost to a couple bad teams lately too. Jazz lost to the Pacers. The point is, lots of teams are losing some games to bad teams, so i'll take a Jazz win over the Knicks when other teams are losing and the Jazz are moving up in the West.
  • Speaking of other teams losing, Denver losing to Dallas last night put the Jazz at the top of the Northwest Division for the first time all year. They are a game ahead of the Nuggets now and just a half game behind Dallas for the 2 spot. The Nuggets actually fell back to the 5th spot as Phoenix has won 7 straight and passed the Nuggets in win percentage. I think the Jazz need to watch out for Phoenix and hold them off. The Jazz should be able to keep at least the 3rd spot and hopefully pass up Dallas for 2. Phoenix and Denver are right behind tho.
Deron is really growing as a player. I like how he is starting to take on his opponents and how he puts the moves on. This move and 3 pointer was a good topper for the 1st quarter.

Ronnie Price had a sweet block that i tried to find video of, but couldn't. Seriously it was good. Hopefully you just watched the game and saw it.

Jazz Confidence: 90%

The Jazz hold a lot of their own fate on this one. They play the Suns on the last game of the season, so they need to beat them.

A lot of those crappy teams are hard to beat right now because a lot of the players on those teams are trying to play really well and hopefully get signed by better teams in the offseason. I think finishing #2 is really possible. I didn't think so a few weeks ago. They have to beat these sub par teams. If they beat the Lakers, I think they'll for sure be #2, but even if they lose that game and win all the rest I think they'll get it.

Its going to be tough for them, but yeah they have to win their games against the non-playoff teams and then try to get as many of the others as they can. Its crazy they could be matched up against so many different teams in the 1st round. The west is so close.
