Jazz thoughts 4:23 in the PM

I've been thinking about the pieces of the Jazz team since the Ronnie Brewer trade and which ones are most important in a championship run this year. I feel like this year the Jazz have alot of talent and potential to make a long playoff run. I don't know if its just me or not, but it feels like the Jazz have this good vibe going on and i think its going to be an exciting end of year run. So here's my thoughts on the players and what they mean to a lengthy season, starting with the most "influential" to a finals run. I'll explain influential as i talk about each one, as it doesn't necessarily mean that they contribute most to the Jazz overall success... just to a finals run this year alone.

1-Carlos Boozer: Boozer is one of those things that you have to have. When he is on fire and playing with Boozer like intensity he is "huge!" I think the Jazz success this year depends more on this guy stepping up than on anyone else. This is how they need Boozer to play. When he is
intense and into the game the team is so much more formidable. I know there are alot of fans out there who don't like Boozer and who would love to have him traded and who feel like the Jazz would be better off without him. Many feel like Milsap could take his place without the Jazz getting worse. This may be, but i just don't think so. I don't exactly like everything about Boozer and how he has performed in the past, and how he has been injured so much and all that, but i like Boozer. I think he is a good player for the Jazz team and who the Jazz team has been over the years. Something is different about Boozer this year and i don't know exactly why he is playing like he is, (contract year maybe), but i like it and ideally i'd like to see him stay with the Jazz and keep up what he has been doing. I don't want him to go back to a soft, injured Boozer. I want him to be the Boozer that i see in this picture who was part of a Jazz team who came back from 25 down to beat Portland on the road. I know my thoughts on Boozer are not really very popular and alot of Jazz fans feel different. I could be wrong, i don't know, but i feel like Boozer is #1 on my list for influential in Jazz success this year.

2-Andre Kirilenko: When he wants to he can play like nobody else in the league. He is an animal on offense and defense. He can pretty much play any position and do anything that the Jazz need him to do. The reason why he is so high on my list is because the Jazz really NEED him. They need him to do all he can and play like he wants to play. That is the problem with Andre; it seems like often he just acts like he doesn't care and that it doesn't matter if he plays or wins or anything.
Sometimes he seems moody or whatever, but he just needs to come to play like he has been the last couple months. He can be such a great player when he wants to and he is so unique. If Andre and Carlos can play like they really care and really want to win, i don't think much can stop the Jazz this year.

3-Deron Williams: The biggest reason why he is not higher on my list is because you can pretty much always count on Deron to play to win. He is very influential to the team's success, and we need him to play well, but i guess i'm just not really too worried about him. Every game he comes to play and comes to win. He is influential as a leader on this team and the Jazz need him to be that. I'm not worried about his head being in the game and his desire, so hopefully his shot will be there when its really needed and he can control the game like he knows how to do.

4-Paul Milsap: Paul is up this high because the past few weeks since Boozer was out a few games and Paul started, he has shown us how good he can play. He is a great player and the Jazz need that when he and Boozer are both in the game or when Boozer needs a rest and Paul is in for him. He seems like the most important player on the Jazz bench and the Jazz need their bench to step up big. Championship teams need a great bench team that can come into the game and extend a lead, not lose a lead. Paul can play big and has shown that the last few weeks. I like Milsap and want him on the Jazz. I just wish either him or Boozer were taller and could play the Center position better.

5-C.J. Miles / Wesley Matthews: These are the ones that can spark the Jazz when they need a spark, but they are also players who when they play like crap they can really hurt the Jazz alot. C.J. can be great when he is shooting well and when he is creating things on the dribble or driving to the hoop. He can also just be crap when he is jacking up shots as soon as he gets the ball and none of them are going in. He needs to play disciplined and know when his shot is on or if its off. Matthews i'm not as worried about in that way, but i feel like he more needs to make his presence known. Play hard and play confident even though he is a rookie.

6-Ronnie Price / Sundiata Gaines: Plain and simple, we need someone to lead the team when Deron is out. Ronnie can be so great but he can also be so crazy not in control sometimes. I really really like Ronnie and he plays with so much energy and plays above the rim even though he is small. He is not afraid of anything and thats a really good thing, he just needs to play with control too. Gaines has impressed me alot too. He is a really good player and when the Jazz need him he's gotta play good. He has been proving himself every time he is on the court.

7-Kyle Korver / Mehmet Okur: The Jazz need these two and their outside shot to be there. It helps everyone else so much to get better shots and helps the Jazz offense run smoothly. Memo needs to be on... he has been "missing" alot this season. He's not the best center to ever play the game so we can't expect that, but we need him to do his best. Korver is a little bit in there with Matthews and Miles. We need them all to step up and spark the offense when they are in the game.

8-Kyrylo Fesenko: Its funny, Fesenko is near the bottom of the list, but i feel like he is still really important to the success of the Jazz this season. The Jazz really need a good big man to play defense in the middle and give the Jazz some length and more shot blocking. Defense is real important as the Jazz have not had that great of defense in the past few years even though they have been pretty good offensively. As they say, defense wins championships.

Pretty much i think that if we don't have #1 and #2 on this list show up and play like we need, i don't think we have a chance of winning the NBA title. We need others too, but take away either #1 or #2 and we'll just have an early exit from the playoffs. I think i'll be done now. Thats enough rascally behavior from me.
Go Jazz
