My Jazz thoughts as of April 18, 9 in the pm

The Jazz start the postseason tomorrow afternoon. At times during the season i have seen them play like a team who could play against anybody. Other times they look like they can and will lose against anybody. Whichever team shows up to play against the Lakers will make a huge difference in the outcome of the series. I won't say that i think that the Jazz will beat the Lakers in this series, but if they play their best they can beat the Lakers.

It doesn't matter to me that the Jazz are playing the Lakers in the first round. I'd rather them lose to the Lakers in the first round then lose to some other team in the first round.

See, here's my thoughts on playoff positioning. Of course i'd like the Jazz to enter the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the west, but not for the reason of who they'd play but because that would mean that they are playing good basketball. The prize is to play in the finals for the championship, not win a crappy team in the first round and then lose in the second or third round. To get to the finals you have to win against at least one good team, whether you start the playoffs as the #1 seed or the #8 seed. Example, the Jazz and the Lakers both have the same road to the finals. After playing against each other they would both play against the exact same teams in order to get to the finals.

I don't care what seed the Jazz start the playoffs in. I only care about how they are playing and how well they will play in the playoffs. If the Jazz didn't get the Lakers in the first round they would have had to probably go against them in a later round anyway, or against a team who is good enough to beat the lakers. I would almost rather them just play the Lakers in the first round. Yeah, they will probably lose, but might as well just get it over with, and if they happen to pull it off they will be all that much further and will have already got past the lakers. Then they would have alot better chance to get to the finals.

At least they will play against the Lakers and hopefully play their best and at least make it a series. Bring it on Lakers. Everyone expects them to win easily, and maybe they will, but i;ll just hope for the very improbable upset.
